My plan for the upcoming year

I have been attending the TU/e for a year now and have developed extraordinarily through various courses offered by my study. Each of these courses focuses on a different aspect of being a designer. I’ve learned about everything from ideation methods, to involving stakeholders, to data collection and analysis. In the first semester of next year, I plan to make the most of the courses engineering design and design < > Research to consolidate my knowledge and skills in general while I plan to explore and my areas of interest, like graphic design and designing on digital platforms such as blender or Fusion 360/Alias through project 2. In the first quartile, I would also like to take the opportunity to enroll in exploratory sketching and receive professional guidance and techniques for sketching, as I did not do so this year. In the second quartile, I will be enrolling in Introduction to Business Design as I would like to consolidate my knowledge in the expertise area Business and entrepreneurship. I'm not too sure what my plan is specifically for the last two quartiles of next year, though I do know I will be enrolling in Aesthetics of interaction during the 3rd quartile.

In project 2, I hope to enroll into the Future mobility squad. Through this squad, I hope to be able to take advantage of skills I will be developing over the course of the summer, like 3D modelling in Fusion Alias. In general, over the course of my bachelor, I plan to gradually focus my courses and extracurricular activities on select expertise areas like technology and realisation. and. I will still be taking other courses in other expertise areas as well. In doing this, I hope to gain valuable skills and knowledge for design in the mobility sector - as this is where I hope to eventually work - while still remaining informed and competent in the other expertise areas.

I would also like to join in with more extracurricular activities in the coming year and for the rest of my bachelor so I can create connections with more people and broaden my scope of design.

I have attached here my draft PDP for B2. Some contents are shared with this page.

Goals for summer and the upcoming year

I want to, by the beginning of the following academic year (2023-2024), be able to quickly (within 10 mins) sketch a car of any type (coupe, SUV, estate, sedan, etc.) from any angle. This will improve my overall sketching skills and will also progress me towards working in the automotive industry.

Over the course of the summer, I will watch and follow along the 3D Design Academy’s Alias Basics course on YouTube and model a car of my own by the start of the next academic year. This skill can also be applied in other sectors aside from vehicles.

During the summer, I will build a bench out of scrap material and wood for a friend’s garden. This will allow me to progress in the direction of my vision. I have built things like this before but it also an opportunity to refine my woodworking skills.

After the summer, within my design squad, I want to try to code and wire my own systems, instead of relying on others for help with that. I would like to have at least one mini-project of my own complete before the end of 2023. This will allow me to progress in the math, data and computing expertise area as well as the technology and realisation expertise area.

By the end of 2023, I want to have implemented  3d printing and modelling concretely into my design process. As such, I want to have completed at least 8 3D-printed prototypes or models by the end of 2023. This will allow me to progress in the technology and realisation expertise area.

I want to be able to comfortably and respectfully incorporate user testing into a future project of mine. I will use project 2 to do this. This will allow me to advance my professional skills as well as the Business and entrepreneurship and User and Society expertise areas.
